Description

Home is a feeling, and sometimes it’s also a shape on a map. This ornament celebrates the place that means something to you, painted by hand and ready to hang on your tree.

Each ornament starts as a natural wood slice. I hand-paint the state silhouette in gold on a black background, add snow-covered trees, and hand-letter the state name. Then I finish it with a buffalo plaid ribbon.

It’s a sweet way to celebrate your home state, a first home, a big move, a college town, or the place you met. It also makes a great gift for anyone who lives far from where they grew up. And if your family moves a lot (hello, fellow military families), you can collect one for every place you’ve lived.

• Approximately 3.5 to 4 inches across
• All 50 states plus Washington DC
• Buffalo plaid ribbon in red or white (black and white)
• Painted surface sealed with polyurethane
• Made to order, ships in 1 to 2 weeks

A note on hunter green ribbon: I’m down to my last spool of hunter green buffalo plaid, and I haven’t been able to find it again since 2020. If you’ve ordered hunter green from me before and want your new ornament to match your collection, mention it in the order notes and I’ll save some for you while it lasts. It’s no longer offered for new orders.

About natural wood
Every slice is different. I choose each one to fit the shape of your state, so the size and shape may vary a bit from the photos. Small knots are normal. The bark is left unsealed to keep its natural look, so a little may flake off over time.

Want something different?
If you’d like different paint colors, a different ribbon, or a country instead of a state, choose “Other Custom Design” and add the details in the notes at checkout. You can also send me a message, and I’ll do my best to bring your idea to life.

Ordering for a group?
Spouse clubs, squadrons, teams, businesses, family reunions, and realtors can get bulk pricing on orders of 5 or more of the same design. Email katie@loveandletteringbykatie.com for details.
