Description

Every place has its own personality. Virginia has dogwoods, Texas has bluebonnets, Arizona has those desert sunsets, and Alaska has the Northern Lights (and the occasional moose). This ornament captures what makes your place special, painted by hand on a natural wood slice.

I paint each state’s silhouette with a design that fits it, like a state flower, a lighthouse, a mountain range, or a beach scene, then hand-letter the name and add a coordinating ribbon. It’s more of a tiny piece of art than a typical ornament.

It’s a meaningful way to celebrate your home state, a first home, a college town, a favorite vacation spot, or the place you met. It also makes a great gift for someone who lives far from where they grew up. And if your family moves a lot (hello, fellow military families), you can collect one for every place you’ve lived, including overseas.

Don’t see your state?
I haven’t painted every state yet, and that’s where the fun starts. Choose “Other Custom Design” and tell me what your state means to you in the order notes, or send me a message first and we’ll plan the design together before I paint it. Same goes for countries, Canadian provinces, or places like Okinawa. If you’d like a different design for a state that’s already pictured, just ask.

About natural wood
Every slice is different. I choose each one to fit the shape of your state, so the size and shape may vary a bit from the photos. Small knots are normal. The bark is left unsealed to keep its natural look, so a little may flake off over time.

Ordering for a group?
Spouse clubs, squadrons, teams, businesses, family reunions, and realtors can get bulk pricing on orders of 5 or more of the same design. Email katie@loveandletteringbykatie.com for details.
